SATs preparation classes
During our SATs classes, we focus on how to approach questions confidently, not simply finding the right answer. Children are taught practical strategies they can use independently, including:
Breaking down questions β underlining key words and identifying exactly what the question is asking.
Exploring unfamiliar vocabulary β discussing new words, working out meaning from context and building vocabulary.
Developing inference skills β using clues from the text to explain ideas and justify answers with evidence.
Understanding command words β recognising what words such as explain, retrieve, compare and summarise require.
Answering for marks β understanding how much detail is needed and ensuring every part of the question is addressed.
Building exam confidence β practising timed questions and developing strategies to stay calm and focused under pressure.
The aim is to help children become strategic, independent readers who understand not only what the answer is, but how to find it.
